The EU will officially implement new regulations on textile labels starting May 8. For all products that were put on the market before May 8, 2012, the regulation gave a certain transition period. The deadline for the transition period is November 9, 2014.
The EU is the largest market for textile exports in China. According to statistics, in 2011, China exported almost 240 billion U.S. dollars of textiles, of which more than 5 billion U.S. dollars were exported to the EU. The implementation of the new EU regulations will not only increase the trade risks of China's textile exports, increase the difficulty of export, but also increase the company's production links, increase the burden on enterprises, and extend the customs clearance time of goods.
In this regard, China's relevant government departments and enterprises should actively respond to the EU's new rules for textiles, in accordance with the new EU regulations in a timely manner to adjust product labeling, in order to avoid unnecessary economic losses.
